Remember When?
Thirty years ago on May 2nd, I was born. A milestone I suppose. And how time flies!
My mom was 25 and my dad was 27 when they had me. And look, I'm not a mom yet. (And not planning to be...but, it's God's will.)
My mom remembers "Star Wars" coming out in theaters later in May, and my dad named me after a famous actress in the western Gunsmoke...Amanda Blake, I believe. (He he, my dad and his western re-runs.)
A few facts from the year 1977 from the book, "1977: Remember When...A Nostalgic Look Back in Time." Of course, I don't remember but some of you may. (Hee hee!)

Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday, Amanda.
30 is a good age. :)
Whoo hoo! Thank you, I am having a good day, thank you!
God truly blessed my life when He predestined you to become my wife. I have now known you for 17 years, dated you for 13, and married to you for almost 4.
A blessing indeed!
BTW, funny how things change drastically:
New House: $49,319.00 (today you just get the living room for this price!)
Average Income: $15,070.00 (yeah, if you work at McDonald's)
New Car: $4,785.00 (the cost of the engine)
Average Rent: $240.00/month (for the toilet only)
Tuition at Harvard: $4,100.00/year (I guess paying for a bad education was just as much a problem then as it is now.)
Movie Ticket: $2.00/each (that's too cheap for even a bottled water at the concession stand!)
Gasoline: $0.65/gallon (I go ahead and blame "W" for that price too! LOL!)
U.S. Postage Stamp: $0.13/each ( now its almost 40 cents and people in the office shoot each other.
My, oh my, how things do really change.
Postage goes up to .41 cents on May 17th...
Happy Belated Birthday Amanda!
You're now entering your prime (whatever that means).
As for everything else in 1977 - Dang I really feel old now.
And dang we're paying way tooo much for everything now.
Anyway, hope you enjoyed your day!
Yeah, things have changed.
And things cost more.
Thank you for the wishes.
I truly had a nice day to remember.
♥
