When I write a blog, I know full well that I am placing myself in a position where anybody in the world could read my words. Knowing that, I am also opening myself to people agreeing with me or even...(Oh my!)...disagree with my thoughts. I mean, blogging is basically a unique place to discuss, share or argue ideas with other people...right? Who wants to read a blog where you can't confirm or disprove what they are saying? I could just read an online essay or page. But even those leave room somewhere to share your thoughts in a forum....right?
But doesn't that mean that your risking the fact that somebody may totally disagree with you on what you blogged about? Yes!
Unless the comment or discussion is profane...why, might I ask, should somebody ban or delete comments on blogs?
Honestly, I think you are choosing to:
1. Avoid the subject. (Then why did you blog it?)
2. Be Yellow/Scared (Stand up for what you blogged about!)
3. Not get your facts straight before blogging. (And be open when presented!)
4. Not be open to people totally disagreeing with you. (You posted the subject, didn't you?)
5. Not being responsible for what you posted.
Fine, America is a free country, you can choose to block, ban or barricade...but...
If I post something,
and I am firm,
and somebody stands totally against me,
and their comments are extremely different from what I believe in,
and they point out something about my topic OR even my character...I really don't think I will erase or ban you.
Because I knew full well what I was posting...and I have to be ready for whatever should come of it...good or bad.
So, I say stand up and comment and agree and disagree and prove or disprove!
Isn't that what blogging is all about anyway?
One more thing: I would love to comment on your blog BUT do not expect me to comment in a fashion or in words that you want to hear. I'm not that type of person. I love you too much to tell you just what you want to hear. (With grace of course.) Some things I will say...you may not care to hear...and all I can say is at least take it into consideration.
If you choose to, I will expect the same.

Alesss: I agree on why your facts are difficult to disprove. You come ready and even armed...you know your stuff before you open your mouth. That's why people know where you stand and trust you.

Amanda, 3 1/2 weeks and one Christmas season later, I am now just catching up with all the posted articles. Great blog!
