And judging from the gaggle of uncostumed high school boys who were wandering around door to door when I pulled up to the curb, prowling for candy (MUCH too old for this sort of thing), I'm doing the right thing.
I'm going to post a sign on my front door:
"Thank you for your interest. My next lecture on the origins of Hallowe'en in history through the Middle Ages and up to the present will begin in approximately forty-five minutes. Please wait quietly for the lecture to begin. Thank you."
